Bilton Dragon Bowling Club: located behind the Co-op on Skipton Road is looking for new members. It is urging you not to be shy but give it a try. This is a sport for all ages and there are open days this weekend on Saturday March 24, 10am-1pm and Sunday, March 25, 1-4pm. Equipment will be provided. Thanks for support: The Crafty Ladies would like to thank everyone who supported their coffee morning at St John’s earlier this month and especially St John’s Church. £797.29 was raised for Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Harrogate Heart Support Group. A wonderful result.

Brigantes Lacemakers: meet most months at Bilton Community Centre, 48 Bilton Lane for a varied programme of talks and workshops. Workshops are for members only but visitors are welcome to go along for talks, admission £3. At the meeting on Saturday, March 24 there will be a speaker from Yorkshire Air Ambulance, starting at 10.30am. Not only is the a chance to hear about a very valuable charity it is an opportunity to find out about this group of talented craft people who are passionate about lace, and other crafts too. Services at St John’s: on Palm Sunday, March 25 Holy Communion is at 8am and 10am, the later service will include a walk round the church. Morning worship at St Luke’s is at 10.30am. Next week morning prayer takes place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9-9.30am. On Wednesday, March 28 Holy Communion is at 10am.

Bilton Grange URC Monday Fellowship: next meets on Monday, March 26 at Bilton Grange United Reformed Church 10.30am for a presentation on “Action for Children”. The church is on the corner of Skipton Road and Woodfield Road.

Bingo: at Bilton Community Centre on Monday, March 26 at 2pm. Everyone welcome. Admission 30p, bingo books 50p each.

Bilton Men’s Forum: Iran, land of the Medes and Persians is the subject of the slide presentation by Ruth Nettleton on Tuesday, March 27 at Bilton Community Centre. Tea is served from 2pm, the speaker starts at 2.30pm. Admission £2 including refreshments.

Bilton Ladies Forum: Blakefields will be giving a presentation on “Canapes” on Tuesday, March 27 at Bilton Community Centre, 7.30pm. New members welcome. Telephone Jane on 01423 545511 for further details.

Super Soup Supping: St John’s Church invites you to join them for a simple soup lunch on Wednesday of Holy Week, March 28 and make a donation to Christian Aid. Serving will start about noon after the regular Communion service.

Kaleidoscope Ladies: has a presentation by Julia Stack on Community Safety and CCTV in Harrogate at its meeting on Wednesday, March 28, Bilton Community Centre, 7.45pm. New members welcome. The group meets most months on the 2nd Wednesday, either at the Community Centre or for Theatre and other interest visits. Telephone 01423 870440 for more information. Visitors admission £3.50.

Meet your local councillors: on Thursday, March 29 at Bilton Community Centre, 6-7pm. Councillors Val Rodgers, Bob O’ Neill and Andrew Goss will be attendance. Go along if you have a problem they may be able to help with or if you have an idea how the area can be improved. No appointment needed.

Date for the diary: on Saturday, March 31 Bilton and Woodfield Community Library is holding its monthly coffee morning 10.30am-noon. Graham Berry, author of “Aftermath” a book about the years immediately after the First World War has accepted an invitation to attend and discuss his book informally with anyone interested. Although this is Easter Saturday when most libraries will be closed, Bilton and Woodfield is open for full library services as usual. It will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday.
