Looking for something to do this summer: then look no further, there is something for everyone. See what is on offer at Harrogate Spa Tennis Centre on Claro Road, visit the website http://www.spatennis.org.uk Maybe you prefer bowling. Brigantes Lacemakers: has a members day on Saturday, July 23 at Bilton Community Centre, 48 Bilton Lane. This may a good opportunity to discover more about this long established and lively group of lace makers. Services at St John’s: on Sunday, June 24 Holy Communion is at 8am and 10am. At St Luke’s morning worship is at 10.30am. Next week, morning prayer takes place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9-9.30am. Holy Communion is at 10.30am on Wednesday, July 27.

Bingo: at Bilton Community Centre on Monday, July 25, 2pm. Admission 30p, bingo books 50p. Also at Dene Park Community Centre every Tuesday and Thursday, 1-4pm. Entrance 30p, bingo books extra. Yet more bingo at Bilton Working Men’s Club on Skipton Road, every Wednesday and Saturday, noon-3pm. Membership of BWMC is not required, admission free, just bingo books to pay for.

Holiday at Home: if you are over 65, live alone and are not having a holiday you are invited to get away from it all right here in Harrogate on Tuesday, July 26, 10.30am-3.30pm, at Bilton Area Methodist Church, Bar Place, Skipton Road, HG1 4NS. Have a holiday at home, with a Scottish theme, for just £8, including lunch plus refreshments in the morning and afternoon. The Snozzwanger Event: start the summer holidays with a wang at Bilton and Woodfield Community Library on Thursday, July 28, 10am-noon. Make a Snozzwanger, which is a catapult, and see how far yours can “wang”. There will be refreshments, a bookstall, readings from “Revolting Rhymes” and a small gift for all children participating. Everyone welcome. At the same time pick up a Matchbox Challenge starter pack. The library is on Woodfield Road on the same site as the school and Children’s Centre.

Also at the library: storytimes for the under 5’s every Tuesday at 10am. During school holidays older siblings are welcome to go along. The Big Friendly Read is for primary school age children, running from now until September, last day to register is August 20, Stop motion animation workshops on Wednesdays throughout August, booking essential, suitable for all ages. Almost last but certainly not least is the wonderful selection of books to borrow, including large print, for everyone. The best is last, all this is free.

Date for the diary: Sunday. July 31 is the Pine Street Allotments Open Day, 10.30am-2pm. Lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, plants, cuts flowers and a variety of stall raising money for three local charities plus a chance to look round this very attractive allotment site Do not miss it. Bilton Children’s Centre: on Woodfield Road has something every weekday for children/families. On Monday, for instance, are two drop in sessions. From 9.15-11am it is possible to see a family outreach worker for advice and support for expectant families and those with children 0-19. From 9.30-10.45am drop in to the health visitor clinic for advice, support and weight review plus a chance to stay and play while you wait.
